Mobile Vets?

In Todays day and age things are changing. The way we did things 10-15 years ago we no longer do. Ever since computers came out, it shifted the society, it shifted the business world, it shifted the way we think, the way we do things and new invention and innovations are built on the foundations of computers. Just within 15 years, we shifted from bulky desktops, to laptops. We shifted from pagers, to bulky cellphones to now smart phones.

Because convenience is at the tip of our fingers now we can now do things differently. E-shops are now a huge market for shipping companies. Before freight trucks would be filled with containers of goods going to businesses only. Not saying that business is now gone but now there is another stream of revenue. Online orders from many major businesses are now being shipped across the country! On a daily basis we see more and more parcels being shipped.

What about mobile businesses? There are many businesses that now comes to you at your convenience! Everyone has heard about mobile chiropractor, mobile mechanics and even groceries coming to you. But what about Mobile vets? Or dog sitters? Or dog walkers? There are now more mobile pet businesses popping up around the GTA. So instead of bringing your pet to go visit the vet you can now call mobile vets to come to you! Instead of taking the day off or rushing after work to get your pet taken care of you now have the convenience to call them and book an appointment when its convenient for you.

Should I get a dog?

I have a toddler and another kid due soon and I am thinking about getting a dog for my kid(s). Well of course I am debating about it and weighing out the pros and cons of getting a dog. I am thinking about whether it is financially viable or not? How much would it cost to feed the dog on a monthly basis? What about vaccination? What if they get sick? What about grooming? If we go on vacation how much would it cost for a pet hotel or someone to take care of your dog?

Now what about time? I am at work 8-10 hours a day. My wife is at work 6 hours a day and my toddler is at daycare. It doesn't seem like it would make sense to get a dog at a young age especially if we're not going to be home for the most part unless we go on Mat/Pat leave. How long would it take for the dog to be independent for at least 6 hours?

Anyways aside from all of that is it worth it? I heard a lot of good things about owning a dog, especially for growing children. I want my kids to have a pet to play with, I'm sure it'll help them develop in so many ways. But is it worth the strain on your time and money? We are a young growing family. If you are in my situation or have been in my situations feel free to comment on your previous or current situation or challenges that you have or had face!
